I am a Professor of English with a scholarly emphasis on African American literature and culture. In addition to a deep interest in black literary and cultural studies, I have written publicly on topics ranging from race and university work, financial debt, and black love. 

Author of Monstrous Work and Radical Satisfaction: African American Women Writing Under Segregation (2024) and Black Regions of the Imagination: African American Writers Between the Nation and the World (2012).
